The Episcopal Church Welcomes You

Welcome!

Do you want your Christian faith to be alive and an integral part of your entire week not just Sundays?

Ministry is about vocation, the vocation of all baptized persons.  Even today some Christians still hesitate to call what they do -- at home, at school, in the office or the factory, on the farm, in retirement -- ministry.  We are absolutely convinced that all these can be places of service if what is done is done with mindfulness and compassion following the example set by Jesus of Nazareth.

This site will assist members of congregations, church leaders and also those who may be new to the faith to gain insight into ministry in daily life. The materials will also be of use to Christian educators. We have selected web sites, books, workshops, etc. based on their compatibility with the theology of our two denominations (which are in full communion together under the agreement Called to Common Mission).

John Macquarrie, in Principles of Christian Theology, writes:

Voltaire's hero in the land of Eldorado saw no temples and wondered if the people had any faith in God; he was told that they had indeed, but that their worship was constituted by their daily work. (from Candide, chap. xviii.)
This web site is sponsored by the Office for Ministry Development at The Episcopal Church Center, and the Vocation & Education office of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
