The first wildfires of the season are burning in Riverside County, California. Fires scorched more than 22,000 acres of grass and low-lying scrub, destroying at least 14 homes, and causing thousands of people to evacuate their homes. The two largest wildfires are burning in Riverside County and fires are threatening San Diego and Santa Barbara counties. High temperatures in the region caused the state to declare a start to the fire season on Monday.
Episcopal Relief and Development is in communication with the Dioceses of Los Angeles and San Diego and will continue to monitor the region. We stand ready to respond and provide emergency assistance. Please continue to pray for families affected by the disaster.
