ERD Provides Emergency Assistance to the Caribbean After Two Hurricanes Hit the Region (10/24/02)

Posted: 10/1/2002

Episcopal Relief and Development is helping victims of Hurricanes Isidore and Lili, which both stuck the Caribbean in a ten-day period. Isidore hit several islands in the Caribbean with 115 mph winds, intense rains, and high waves, causing extensive damage. Lili took a similar path to Isidore, producing 155 mph winds, uprooting trees and telephone lines, and damaging homes and other buildings. Thousands were evacuated and crops on several islands were hurt by the storm.

Episcopal Relief and Development is aiding victims of both hurricanes with a $10,000 emergency grant. The funds will help purchase and distribute emergency food, roofing materials, bedding, and cooking equipment.
