Emergency Relief Goes to India (02/01/01)
2/1/2001

EPISCOPAL Relief and Development has given a $25,000 emergency grant to Bishop Malaviya in the Diocese of Gujarat in North India and another $25,000 to the Church of North India to support relief efforts there in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. Funds for food, potable water, blankets and shelter are needed immediately.

Tens of thousands are dead and even more people are injured and homeless. EPISCOPAL Relief and Development is continuing to seek ways to help through both local Anglican authorities and ecumenical relief agencies. Once the immediate needs are addressed, EPISCOPAL Relief and Development will be ready to assist in the rehabilitation effort to help people rebuild their lives and homes.

You can contribute by sending checks to EPISCOPAL Relief and Development, c/o EARTHQUAKE RELIEF, Box 12043, Newark, NJ, 07101, or use your credit card by calling 800-334-7626, ext. 5129, or make a donation online.
