The emergency room team is working non-stop and has increased its staff to handle the surge of patients seeking emergency room treatment. Recently, 76 severely injured patients were treated at the hospital. In order to accommodate the influx of patients, an extra ward has been opened. Medical treatment for the poor is being provided through a free medical outreach program twice a week.
Emergency food baskets and commodities have been distributed to 300 families in need through the hospital’s social department. As a result, Ahli Arab Hospital is running out of food, medicine, drugs, and blood.
ERD is working in partnership with the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem to provide emergency assistance to Ahli Arab Hospital for extra emergency staff, additional medicine and medical supplies, as well as food aid and commodities for patients.
“The people of Gaza are so vulnerable after this prolonged and agonizing conflict. ERD will do all we can stand with Ahli Arab Hospital as they reach out the wounded and sick,” said Janette O’Neill, ERD’s Senior Director for Africa Programs.
