[ERD]  Episcopal Relief and Development is providing critical assistance to families in and around Lexington, Kentucky, after severe storms. Storms tore through several counties, including Floyd, Magoffin, Johnson, and Martin, destroying approximately 250 homes, damaging 4,000 others, and leaving hundreds homeless.

"Severe weather, including tornadoes, high winds, and heavy rain, that began last Thursday evening and continued over Memorial Day weekend, brought down power lines and flooded homes and businesses," said the Rt. Rev. Stacy F. Sauls, Bishop of Lexington. "Floods and mudslides have blocked roads and parkways," said Bishop Sauls.

On behalf of the Episcopal Church, Episcopal Relief and Development has advanced emergency funds to the Diocese of Lexington to provide temporary shelter, food, and clothing vouchers and other humanitarian needs. The funds will also assist with cleanup costs in eastern Kentucky's hard hit areas.

To assist people affected by the storms in Kentucky and respond immediately after disasters in the United States and around the world, donate to theEmergency Relief Fund at www.er-d.org , or call (800) 334-7626, ext. 5129. Gifts can be mailed to: Episcopal Relief and Development, c/o Emergency Relief Fund, PO Box 12043, Newark, NJ 07101.

Domestic
We provide critical supplies to people through local dioceses after natural and human-made disasters. We partner with the dioceses to get life-saving aid to children and their families and stay with communities after the crisis to provide ongoing support.
