Christian Formation Network Check-In, January 2007

Purpose of Network’s Ministry: To support Christian formation in the Province and diocesan and local levels.

Highlights of the past few months: Network meeting in Shreveport, Louisiana hosted by the Diocese of Western Louisiana. Produced a DVD and a notebook on starting and running Christian formation programs in small congregations. The DVD is available on request. Partnered with Western Kansas on Christian formation workshop.Lou Taylor serves as representative to ECCE and has served as a mentor to the Province II Christian Formation Network by consulting with them about their future plans.

Plans for the future: The network will sponsor a conference April 21 and 21 in Dallas titled “Art and Soul”. The Rev. Mary and Delda Skinner will be the keynote speakers. Participants will have opportunities to participate in workshops that highlight the connection between the arts and Christian formation.

Ways Province VII can help with these goals: Advertise the Art and Soul conference at every opportunity.

Art can say in a single breathtaking image what the heart might take volumes to express in words. These images come in many forms that excite all five of our senses. This Art and Soul Conference seeks to give participants the opportunity to tap into the creative side of worship.
