 Province VII’s Coordinator  of Episcopal Diocesan and Ecumenical and Interreligious Officers is the Rev’d Dr. Wayne E. Carter.  Fr. Carter was appointed by the EDEIO President, Mr. Art Geissler in January, 2006. Fr. Carter is also the Ecumenical and Interreligious Officer for the Diocese of Western Louisiana, and he has served as EIO (Ecumenical and Interreligious Officer) for the Diocese of Dallas and the Diocese of West Texas.  Fr. Carter grew up in Maine and was confirmed into the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Upper South Carolina in 1969 and was ordained to the Diaconate in 1983 and the Priesthood in 1984.  He has earned a doctorate from the University of South Carolina and has served congregations in the Diocese of Dallas, and the Diocese of West Texas. Currently, he is the rector of St. John’s Episcopal in the Diocese of Western Louisiana. 

What is the purpose of this Network’s ministry? To provide a resource to each diocese in the province through the Ecumenical and Interreligious Officers appointed by the Bishop of the Diocese.

What is the structure of this Network? Members of the network are the Ecumenical and Interreligious Officer of the various dioceses.

What are some of the highlights of the past few months? Each member of the network has received information from the Officer of Ecumenical and Interreligious Affairs at TEC and information from the President of the EDEIO.

What are some of the goals for the next few months? Encourage members of the network to attend the Annual Meeting of the EDEIO and the National Workshop on Christian Unity (NWCU) which is scheduled for January 29 - February 1, 2007 in Arlington, VA.
