Bob Carson was confirmed into the Episcopal Church at St. James Episcopal in Wichita, Kansas, in 1962. He currenly attends St. Anne's in McPherson, Kansas, where he and his wife reside. Bob has lived in McPherson for 31 years and raised his three sons there. He has eight grandchildren.
He is involved in many civic and church organizations. He currenly serves as chair of the McPherson County Planning Commission and Board of Appeals and is on the City Planning Commission. He is President of Kiwanis for the second time, a member of the McPherson Ministerial Alliance, and on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
Bob is also Chair of World Mission for the Diocese of Western Kansas. In that capacity he has led missions to Venezuela for 13 years and to Uganda for the last four years, distributing eyeglasses to the poor. He was Senior Warden at St. Anne's for one term and past chair of the board of directors for CASA.
Bob was recently appointed as Companion Diocese Network Counselor for Province VII. In early May, he attended a meeting with other network councilors in Linthicum, Maryland. Although he is new at this position, he intends to put a lot of effort into doing a good job. Since he also serves as Province VII's Companion diocese chair and World Mission Chair for the Diocese of Western Kansas, he will be reporting on his own activities.
Bob says, "I hope to get in contact with all of the Bishops in Province VII, as well as the chairpersons of their World Mission Committees. I will be required to have a complete report on all of Province VII at the next meeting, addressing what each diocese has been doing in the past year with their companion dioceses."
