College Students from the Diocese of Texas Travel to England

Every 3 years the Diocese of Texas sponsors a spiritual pilgrimage to the British Isles, where students encounter their Christian/Anglican roots and have an opportunity to grow in their own spiritual lives. This past May, 23 students and their chaplains--the Rev. Miles Brandon (University of Texas), the Rev. Mark Crawford (Rice), and the Rev. Sandi Mizirl (Texas A&M)--traveled to Lindisfarne, Canterbury, and London, spending 11 days immersing themselves in their rich Anglican history and tradition, including participating in the daily cycle of prayer and worship at the Cathedral.

Kansas Students Visit Kenya
In July, five students joined others from the Diocese of Kansas on a mission trip to Kenya, where they preached, worked in the villages, and met with local Christians. Among those traveling with the students were Bishop Dean Wolfe and the Rev. Craig Loya, new campus missioner for the diocese.

In the village of Maai Mahiu, Kenya, Kansans painted this wall of a dormitory at a local orphanage and then paused for a photo with some of the residents.

Episcopal College Community Students spend Nine Days at Jesus for India Church in Hyderabad

A mission team from the Episcopal College Community at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas (Diocese of Texas) was sent to Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India for a nine day mission at the Jesus for India Church and Bible Institute.  While there, the team of six led a six day vacation bible school program for a total of more than 160 children in 110 degree temperatures!!!  The VBS program utilized the "Trading Places" curriculum and incorporated the concept of the "passport" as we led the children on adventures in six different countries to learn six different Bible lessons through unique games, songs and crafts.  The ECC Mission Team was matched with a companion mission team of bi-lingual members from the JFI Church who served as translators throughout the VBS for the Telugu speaking children.  After raising nearly $20,000 for this mission, the ECC Mission Team was able to not only provide a top quality VBS experience for the children of Hyderabad, but also to support the work of the Jesus for India Church and two of its most spectacular outreach ministries: the AR Orphanage and the St. Mark's Primary School.  ECC was able to continue their year-long sponsorship of two orphans at the AR Orphanage by funding an additional year of sponsorship, to purchase computers for the St. Mark's Primary School, and to purchase a new piano keyboard to supplement the church's dynamic worship.  For additional information about the ECC Mission Program or the Jesus for India Church, please contact the Lamar missioner, Janeal Nielsen, at ECC_Lamar@yahoo.com.
