The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson (1947- ) is the openly gay bishop of New Hampshire.
Why Robinson?
“I have never met anyone so clearly called by God to be a bishop. His gifts are perfectly suited for it. He is a man of character and integrity. It made me question why God would call someone, and then not enable them to serve. But when Gene was finally elected in NH, it seemed that God was just waiting for the fullness of time. That Gene Robinson is now a bishop makes me trust that God will work everything out in His own time.”–Episcopalian since 1954
“I was both jubilant and humbled when I joined my NH clergy colleagues and my parish's lay delegates, at the electing convention on June 7, 2003, when we chose Gene to be our bishop. It was a Spirit-led occasion. I believe with all my heart that God continues to bless and guide the authentic episcopacy of the Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson.”–Judith, Priest, Massachusetts
