Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) is working with Pura Vida Coffee to sell and distribute a premium line of coffees called Bishops Blend throughout the Episcopal Church. Bishops Blend coffees are dark roasted from Central America and Indonesia. They are certified Fair Trade, organic, and shade grown.
2. Who is Pura Vida Coffee?
Pura Vida Coffee is a Seattle-based company committed to partnering with organizations like Episcopal Relief and Development. One hundred percent of its net profits benefit at-risk children and families in coffee-growing countries.
3. Why is it called Bishops Blend?
We named Bishops Blend in honor of all our bishops in ECUSA and throughout the Anglican Communion.
4. Why choose Bishops Blend?
Bishops Blend coffee combines an important social justice issue with ERD’s mission of responding to needs around the world. Fair Trade coffee helps farmers in the developing world receive a fair living wage for their coffee, while protecting the environment. 5. What do Fair Trade, organic, and shade grown mean?
Fair Trade coffee is purchased from small coffee farmers and guarantees that farmers who grow and process the beans receive a fair price. Organic coffee is grown without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Shade grown coffee grows beneath a tree canopy which protects coffee plants from intense heat and uses the plant’s leaves to return vital nutrients to the soil.
6. How much does Bishops Blend cost?
Bishops Blend comes in 12 oz and 5 lb bags. The price for a 12 oz bag is $8.95 for Regular, Kaldi's Roast and Cafe de la Paz and $9.95 for Decaf and Cinnamon Spice. Bulk and recurrent orders receive discounts based on quantity and the frequency of the order.
7. What percentage from the sale of Bishop Blend coffees goes directly to ERD?
Episcopal Relief and Development receives 15% of the purchase price from the sale of each bag of Bishops Blend coffee.
8. How does ERD use the proceeds of Bishops Blend?
All proceeds raised through Bishops Blend go into ERD’s General Fund so they can be used for the areas of greatest need -- whether it’s programs in the areas of emergency assistance and rebuilding, food security or primary health care.
9. How can I order Bishops Blend?
There are three ways to order: call Pura Vida customer service representatives at (877) 469-1431; order online from Pura Vida; or fax your order form. Make sure to request Bishops Blend coffee.
10. What is the Constant Cup Program?
The Constant Cup Program gives individuals the opportunity to order Bishops Blend on a regular basis. Participants will receive a regular supply of Bishops Blend mailed to their home or office.
11. Can I order Bishops Blend in large quantities?
You can order Bishops Blend in bulk. Generally, the coffee is ordered in five-pound increments. Pura Vida can accommodate orders of up to 200 lbs a month. Pura Vida customer service representatives will work with you to determine the amount appropriate for your parish, church, or organization.
12. Can I order Bishops Blend for a fundraiser?
Parishes, dioceses, and other church organizations are encouraged to order Bishops Blend to support local projects and help ERD. Order using the fundraiser order form, or by speaking with a representative. You will be charged the wholesale rate of $6 for Regular, Kaldi's Roast and Cafe de la Paz and $7 for Decaf or Cinnamon Spice. Your group can choose to sell each bag for $10 and make a $3-$4 profit per bag!
