Finding God in Your Body

Thursday, June 19, 2014 to Saturday, June 21, 2014

(Friday dinner – Sunday lunch)

Bodies matter. The body reflects the goodness and image of God. God assumed a physical body to live and die as one of us in the person of Jesus Christ. Bodies mattered to God and they should to us. Come explore ways in which listening to the body can bring us closer to the path of Christ, not further away. We will look at how different religions use the body in prayer, how cultural attitudes, historical and current, shape the way we see and use the body. We will explore our bodies as tools of discernment. Each session in the weekend will have some physical exploration, including basic yoga postures, guided meditation, and intellectual inquiry. Please bring a journal and pen, and wear comfortable clothes you can move in. All levels of physical ability and disability are welcome. Experience the presence and wisdom of God’s spirit in your body.
