Sacred Harp Singing School

Friday, November 30, 2012

Aldo Thomas Ceresa leads an introductory workshop in the a cappella singing tradition known as Sacred Harp at historic St. Paul’s Chapel, sponsored by Trinity Wall Street.  Sacred Harp is an early form of regional American music that developed in the South, its sound influenced by the immigrant experience.  The name of the tradition comes from the title of the shape note book from which the music is sung, The Sacred Harp

Ceresa, a noted musical teacher and composer, has shared his passion for this unique choral style in workshops throughout the United States and Europe, as well as in lectures at Yale University, Brooklyn College, and University College Cork, Ireland
