Huron College to award honorary degree to Presiding Bishop Jefferts Schori

Huron University College will confer a doctor of divinity degree (honoris causa) on the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, presiding bishop and primate of the Episcopal Church, as part of its theology convocation ceremony on Thursday, May 5, according to a release from the college in West London, Ontario, Canada.

The citation will be delivered by the Most Rev. Fred Hiltz, primate of the Anglican Church of Canada. The Rt. Rev. Robert Bennett, Bishop of Huron, will present the degree. Jefferts Schori will give the convocation address.

Huron will honor 13 graduates at this year's Convocation; nine will receive master of divinity and four will be awarded master of theological studies degrees. In addition, four students will be awarded lay certificates in theology.

Convocation will take place at 4:30 p.m. in the Kingsmill Room at Huron University College.

Huron University College is a four-year liberal arts university. It is located next to, and is partnered with, the University of Western Ontario.
