Take action today! Contact your Senators immediately at 800-270-0309 and urge them to support S. 2109 a renewal of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban as an amendment to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act currently before the U.S. Senate.

S. 2109 extends the current ban on assault type weapons for 10 years. The current ban is set to expire in September 2004 and is credited with decreasing crime using prohibited military-style semi-automatic guns identified in the law. The 1994 ban applies to 19 types of common military style assault weapons. Models existing prior to 1994 can still be legally owned or sold. Hundreds of firearms used for hunting and other recreational purposes are not affected by the ban.

Renewal of the Assault Weapons Ban is supported by President Bush, local and national law enforcement agencies and is opposed by the National Rifle Association.
