Canon Holly McAlpen, Ethnic and Multicultural missioner for the Episcopal Diocese of California, began a five-month sabbatical August 1 after 22 years of service to the Diocese of California. At the end of her sabbatical, McAlpen will leave the diocesan office to pursue other ministry opportunities.

With church banners and signs saying "Pray for Peace" and "Every person matters" the group walked around the neighborhood singing and praying. The procession, the Mass and the party brought together a diversity of cultures and languages. People prayed for justice and the end of prejudice in our society.
