General Convention approves dialogue with the Methodist Church, meets from 1953-1961

1960
The Episcopal Church and the Methodist Church are founding members of multi-lateral dialogue in the Consultation on Church Union. Bilateral dialogue is discontinued for multi-lateral conversations.

1968
United Methodist Church formed

1988
General Convention commends United Methodist document on nuclear weapons

1991
General Convention resolution to “Establish a Dialogue with Historic Black Methodist Episcopal Churches”

1996
International Anglican-Methodist Dialogue releases Sharing in the Apostolic Communion, affirmed by General Convention in 2006

1996
United Methodist document on Baptism, By Water and the Spirit, affirmed by General Convention 2006

1998
Lambeth Conference commends Sharing in the Apostolic Communion and encourages provinces to engage in dialogue with Methodists.

2000
General Convention endorses dialogue with the United Methodist Church

2002
Covenant between the Church of Ireland and the Methodist Church in Ireland

2002
United Methodist-Episcopal Church Dialogue begins meeting

2003
Covenant between the Methodist Church in Britain and the Church of England

United Methodist document on the Eucharist, This Holy Mystery, affirmed by General Convention 2006

Interim Eucharistic Sharing approved by United Methodist Council of Bishops, accepted by General Convention 2006

General Convention resolution to “Continue Dialogue with the United Methodist Church”

Dialogue releases congregational study guide, Make Us One with Christ

Anglican-Methodist Covenant in New Zealand
