Director: Human Resources

The Episcopal Church Center has an immediate need for a Director, Human Resources. We are looking for an experienced professional with a background in personnel management and advocacy. We employ approximately 150 individuals, with roughly 50% working remotely, and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing every aspect of their employment needs. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the talent acquisition process and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and in-house regulatory requirements and procedures, and benefits administration. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director, Human Resources will:

  1. Provide organizational development strategies and direct human resources management to partner and support the mission and ministry goals of the Episcopal Church.

  2. Create and implement employee relations policies and practices that increase employees’ job satisfaction.

  3. Build resources for managing our staff and talent acquisition. Engender motivation by new employees through the on boarding and training of new hires.

  4. Introduce and implement compensation processes appropriate to the Church, and communicate to employees about compensation, benefits, and other facets of their employment.

  5. Build processes, and handle questions or complaints from employees in a timely and professional manner that inspire employee and management confidence.

  6. Lead the HR department team to enhance their skills and increase productivity.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director, Human Resources will provide direct supervision to the Senior Officer, Human Resources, and the Manager, Benefits, Systems & Finance; and work collegially with other management team members as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field required, graduate degree or SPHR/PHR certification a plus;

  • 10+ years’ experience in human resources department, particularly in organizational development and leadership coaching;

  • 3+ years’ experience in a HR leadership position;

  • Strong understanding of the hiring process, compensation, performance management, employee relations, and other HR functions;

  • Excellent communication, leadership and planning skills;

  • Skilled in conflict identification, management, and resolution;

  • A dynamic relationship builder, both with individuals and groups;

  • Ability to serve effectively in a multi-class, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, and international Church
