Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry on the passing of Shimon Peres

September 29, 2016

Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael B. Curry has issued the following statement on the passing of Shimon Peres.

We in the Episcopal Church join with our brothers and sisters throughout the world in mourning the passing of Shimon Peres. He will long be remembered as a leader of Israel, a citizen of the world, and as one who shared the Nobel Peace Prize with Yasser Arafat, Yithzak Rabin, as a man of peace. For that noble work the words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount seem appropriate:

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

The Most Rev. Michael B. Curry

Presiding Bishop and Primate
