The Rev. Canon Heather L. Melton, Staff Officer for the United Thank Offering

Scripture tells us that to everything there is a season. That’s especially true in the work UTO committed to doing in support of young women in their lives and development. This month we are marking two seasons of change, which I want to share with you.

This fall marks the end of one season in the life of Kayla Massey, our first UTO Julia Chester Emery Intern who became the associate staff officer. Kayla will be leaving UTO to pursue graduate-level studies at American University. UTO is incredibly thankful to Kayla for all of her time, energy, and hope that she has shared with us over the last few years, and we wish her all the best. We know that she will excel in her studies and will go on to be a force for good in the world. We are thankful for her leadership in the creation of the Blue Box app and the UTO Database, as well as for all of the care and support she’s given to UTO members and leaders. Please be sure to send your note of thanks to Kayla via email or mail. She’ll be with us through the end of September.

Katelyn Kenney, our third Julia Chester Emery Intern, will continue with us for a second year. Katelyn is moving to Washington, DC, where she’ll spend part of her year working with the wonderful folks in the Office of Government Relations, learning all about how The Episcopal Church interacts with our federal government. She’ll also continue learning and working with the Asset Based Community Development training and helping us with our first UTO training event in June 2019. We’re grateful to have Katelyn around for year two to keep building on the great work she’s begun and to offer some stability with Kayla’s departure for graduate school and my upcoming sabbatical.
