Presiding Bishop invited to Anglican Church of Canada Synod

At the invitation of Archbishop Fred Hiltz, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori will visit the General Synod July 3 and 4 in Ottawa.

Additionally, this year’s General Synod will be the first-ever Joint Assembly with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. More than 800 Anglicans, Lutherans, and others are expected for the joint national meeting, which runs July 3 to 7.

The theme of the gathering is "Together for the love of the world."

Presiding Bishop Jefferts Schori will present greetings at the historic event.

“This is a remarkable and historic event for Anglicans and Lutherans in Canada,” Presiding Bishop Jefferts Schori said. “It is an honor to participate and I look forward to exploring how our respective churches might strengthen our common witness to God’s mission.”
