2020 Challenge Grant: Camino Project

The UTO Camino Challenge Grant is up and running, and we thank all of you who have participated so far. There is still time to add your donation toward the building and development of the Anglican Pilgrim Centre in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and have UTO match it, effectively doubling your gift. When the UTO Board issued a challenge grant for Episcopal Migration Ministries in 2015, we were overwhelmed by the response, which was far beyond our original challenge, and we hope you will surprise us again with your generosity.

UTO will match the first $60,000 of donations to create the Anglican Pilgrim Centre in Santiago to provide a place for the more than 100,000 Protestant pilgrims who walk the Camino de Santiago de Compostela each year to end their pilgrimage by celebrating the Eucharist together. The Centre will welcome pilgrims of all faiths, encouraging youth development, spiritual formation, and interfaith dialogue and providing space for pilgrims to process their journey together and share their experiences. The Anglican Pilgrim Centre in Santiago will show the continued strength and faith of the Spanish Reformed Church in Spain, and UTO is grateful to be a part of this project.

As UTO Pilgrims on the Camino walk part of this ancient pilgrimage route in October, I hope you will check in on our progress on UTO’s Facebook page and webpage, or on the Friends of the Anglican Centre Facebook page and webpage, and contribute (or contribute again) to the UTO Camino Challenge Grant. You may donate now, one of three ways:

  1. Text “Camino” to 41444;
  2. Donate online at https://unitedthankoffering.com/camino/ and select “UTO Camino Challenge Grant”; or
  3. Send a check with “UTO Camino Challenge Grant” in the memo to: United Thank Offering | DFMS – Protestant Episcopal Church | P.O. Box 958983 | St. Louis, MO 63195-8983

The Anglican Pilgrim Centre in Santiago is a wonderful way to share God’s hospitality with all pilgrims in Spain. UTO is grateful for your participation with us in this challenge grant.
