Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii receives consents for Bishop-elect Elizabeth Berman

The standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction have given the required majority of consents to the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii for its May 16 election of the Rev. Elizabeth “Libby” Berman as bishop. Her consecration and ordination service is scheduled for Nov. 14.

In giving consent to Berman’s ordination and consecration as bishop, standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction in The Episcopal Church attest to knowing of “no impediment on account of which” Berman ought not be ordained as bishop, and that her election was conducted in accordance with the canons. The consent process is detailed in Canon III.11.3.

Berman is rector of the Church of the Holy Nativity in Honolulu, Hawaii. Read news coverage about her election.
