Easter 4A

[RCL] Acts 2:42-47; Psalm 23; 1 Peter 2:19-25; John 10:1-10 You’re a bunch of sheep! Today, those words are hardly a compliment. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, heightened political polarization, and anxiety about war and climate change, the insult of “sheeple” is hurled against pretty much every group, no matter their position. The accusation…

[RCL]: Acts 2:42-47; Psalm 23; 1 Peter 2:19-25; John 10:1-10 Even though we are in the season of Easter, our lives may still feel like one long Lenten discipline of social distancing and fighting illness. An Episcopal bishop who served many years ago in the upper Midwest of the United States used to love telling stories he had learned from the Native Americans of the area, many of whom were Episcopalians. In her retirement, some years ago, a woman lived in the English countryside. And from her living-room window, she could see a large hill, at the top of which was the ancient parish church. Many types of gates dot the towns and hillsides, cities and industries all around us. These gates can give us a lot of information, if we pay attention to them and really take notice. Some gates are to keep people (or animals) out, and others are to keep them in. And some are so old…
