Getting Started
In early 2019, The Episcopal Church launched Sacred Ground, which became an 11-part discussion series about race and faith, as a resource primarily for White Episcopalians to learn about the history of racism in the U.S. and how it continues to manifest today. Built around documentaries and readings about how Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories intersect with those of European Americans, the program is part of the church’s Becoming Beloved Community long-term commitment to racial healing and justice.
Sacred Ground—which grew extensively after the 2020 murder of George Floyd and during the COVID-19 pandemic—includes both White and interracial small groups, or circles. It is also available for small groups hosted by any faith-based organization. Find links, information, and other resources below to help you get started.
