United Methodist-Episcopal Dialogue

The United Methodist-Episcopal dialogue was established by act of the 2000 General Convention and began meeting in 2002. The 2006 General Convention approved interim Eucharistic sharing with the United Methodist Church. Episcopal parishes are now authorized to hold joint celebrations of the Eucharist with United Methodist churches under the guidelines established by General Convention. The Episcopal Church participated with the United Methodist Church as part of the Consultation on Church Union. The ecumenical work of the United Methodist Church is carried out by the Council of Bishops Office of Christian Unity and Interreligious Relationships.

The dialogue committee's proposal for full communion is under discussion.
