Sunday Worship: Holy Eucharist (Rite II) 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. (10 a.m. service includes music, choir and nursery)
Church School for grades K through 6 meets every Sunday upstairs in the middle Sunday School room. Coffee and fellowship follows the 10 a.m. service.
The first Episcopal service in McKeesport was held in 1869. In 1871, a mission church was created for 33 confirmed members of the Episcopal Church. St. Stephen’s was incorporated as an independent parish on Nov. 3, 1885. At the same time, an old frame church building was moved to the rear of the parish’s property for use as a guild hall, and the cornerstone for a new stone church was laid in May of 1886. In 1948, the old wooden guild hall was demolished and replaced with a new Parish House, annexed to the church. In the mid-1980s, the old McKeesport Post Office was purchased and demolished and is now used as a parking lot.
Today, St. Stephen's serves both McKeesport and the surrounding area, including the city of Duquesne, the boroughs of Dravosburg, Glassport, Liberty, Lincoln, Port Vue and White Oak, and the townships of Elizabeth, Forward and South Versailles. Parishioners also attend from parts of North Huntingdon Township and West Mifflin, as well as other neighboring communities.
