The Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe

Bio: 

The Rt. Rev. Sean Rowe was ordained and consecrated as the eighth bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania on September 8, 2007.  

Bishop Sean leads thirty four congregations in the thirteen counties that make up northwestern Pennsylvania.  He has instituted a new mission statement and strategy, which center on transformational leadership and ministry, and worked on fostering a unified identity within the diocese.   An active healing ministry, with services held around the diocese, is also a vital part of Bishop Sean’s ministry.

At the church-wide level, Bishop Sean currently serves as the Parliamentarian for the House of Bishops, the board chair of the Episcopal Church Building Fund, a member of the General Board of Examining Chaplains, and a member of the CREDO Advisory Board.   He also serves as a board member of the Erie County Housing Authority.

Born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, Bishop Sean graduated from Grove City College in 1997 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History.  He immediately entered the Virginia Theological Seminary and graduated in 2000 with a Master in Divinity degree.   Bishop Sean is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Organizational Learning and Leadership.

Bishop Sean resides in Fairview, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Carly, and their daughter, Lauren.
