2028-2030 Triennial Budget for The Episcopal Church
Every three years, the church’s General Convention votes on a budget to fund the church’s ministry, governance, and administration during the next triennium. The budget is drafted by the Joint Budget Committee of the Executive Council in collaboration with the church’s chief financial officer and shared churchwide before the council votes on a final draft for General Convention.
The 2028-2030 draft triennial budget reflects significant changes made to present the budget in a more transparent, flexible, and thorough fashion. For the first time, it is being offered in a handbook format that includes both budget numbers and detailed descriptions of ministry areas and funding intentions. A budget spreadsheet is also available for download.
The draft budget has been developed in coordination with The Episcopal Church’s strategic plan—adopted by the church’s Executive Council in October 2026—and includes substantial investments in churchwide evangelism, congregational vitality, and organizational capacity.
Note: The 2027 budget figures included in the draft budget represent the preliminary annual budget for the last year of the current triennium, which will be submitted to the Executive Council for approval in December. They are for reference only.
