BLESS Appeal

June 2022

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

“Here I am, for you called me.” (1 Samuel 3:5)

These are significant times in which we live. Times of great anxiety, but also times of great opportunity. Times of pandemic and war, and yet times of awesome human creativity and the forming of new relationships that seek peace. Through and in these life-changing realities, The Episcopal Church listens to and acts upon God’s call.

As Canon to the Presiding Bishop for Ministry within The Episcopal Church, I am privileged to be able to engage with individuals and congregations all across this world. I see and hear Episcopalians wrestle with important questions. Questions like, “What is God calling us – or me – to do and to be in this moment of time?” The answer does not always come quickly, nor is it always a quick transition from “what is” to “what shall be”. And yet, for Christians, the way forward is clear: you and I are called to love our neighbors, protect the vulnerable, and walk humbly with our God. The Episcopal Church is actively engaged in this work.

  • We work through Episcopal Migration Ministries to support and welcome Ukrainian, Afghan, and Syrian refugees.
  • We advocate for mission-driven regulations and laws through the Episcopal Public Policy Network.
  • We confront racism wherever it exists, and tell the truth about our own history, through the 2021 Inventory of Racial Justice and Truth-Telling.

The Episcopal Church works each day to be a church that looks and acts like Jesus.
