Domestic Poverty

The following is an account of Dan and Teresa, participants at Metro CareRing:

Dan and Teresa had both lost their jobs in the previous two weeks and were visiting Metro CareRing for the first time. Dan commented, “Last year, we donated food. I never thought we’d be on the other end.” As they shopped through The Market, their one-year-old reached out and grabbed an apple. You could see the joy in their eyes as they filled bags with fresh fruits and vegetables to take home. “Thank you! We cannot afford these. Thank you for all this great food and fresh produce.” They left with a smile and a promise to find a job and donate again soon.
