Domestic Poverty

Island Grove Village (IGV) is a multifamily housing complex in The Episcopal Diocese of Colorado. IGV is supported by the Trinity Housing Corporation of Greeley of Trinity Episcopal Church. IGV’s mission is to provide affordable housing, family assistance support services, and economic and educational opportunities for its residents and the surrounding community.

IGV is comprised of 108 one-to-four bedroom units and provides subsidized housing for more than 300 low-income residents. In addition to housing and serving community members, IGV also has several education programs in place. In 2013 IGV graduated 32 successful GED students bringing th e total number of English- and Spanish-language graduates up to 302.

IGV also ministers extensively to children and youth through the Kaleidoscope Youth Program (KYP) summer and after-school programs for IGV boys and girls. With nearly 5,300 visits and an average of more than 50 kids a day in 2013 alone, the Kaleidoscope program does great work in education and early childhood development.

With help from a 2014 Jubilee Impact Grant, the IGV Kaleidoscope Youth Program will be able to purchase several hundred new books and reading materials for its young readers. The program has already helped kids enjoy over half-a-million hours of reading, and the additional funding from the Jubilee Impact Grant will help KYP staff and volunteers make the next half-a-million hours equally as informative and fun!
