Rite I:
Perfect in us, Almighty God, whatever is lacking of thy gifts: of faith, to increase it; of hope, to establish it; of love, to kindle it; that like thy servant Lancelot Andrewes we may live in the life of thy grace and glory; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the same Holy Ghost, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Rite II:

First Lesson: 1 Timothy 2:1-7

¹ First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for everyone, ²for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. ³This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, ⁴who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. ⁵For there is one God; there is also one mediator between God and humankind, Christ Jesus, himself human, ⁶who gave himself a ransom for all—this was attested at the right time. ⁷For this I was appointed a herald and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.

Psalm: Psalm 63:1-7

¹ O God, you are my God; eagerly I seek you; *
       my soul thirsts for you, my flesh faints for you,
       as in a barren and dry land where there is no water.
² Therefore I have gazed upon you in your holy place, *
       that I might behold your power and your glory.
³ For your loving-kindness is better than life itself; *
       my lips shall give you praise.
⁴ So will I bless you as long as I live *
       and lift up my hands in your Name.
⁵ My soul is content, as with marrow and fatness, *
       and my mouth praises you with joyful lips,
⁶ When I remember you upon my bed, *
       and meditate on you in the night watches.

Gospel: Luke 11:1-4

¹ He was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.’ ²He said to them, ‘When you pray, say:
Father, hallowed be your name.
   Your kingdom come.
³   Give us each day our daily bread.
⁴   And forgive us our sins,
     for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us.
   And do not bring us to the time of trial.’
