Diocese of Newark notified of successful canonical consent process
The Episcopal Diocese of Newark has received notification from Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael B. Curry and Registrar of General Convention, the Rev. Canon Michael Barlowe, that Bishop-Elect Carlye J. Hughes has received the required majority of consents in the canonical consent process detailed in Canon III.11.3.
In giving consent to her ordination and consecration, Standing Committees and bishops with jurisdiction attest to knowing of “no impediment on account of which” Bishop-Elect Hughes ought to be ordained to the office of bishop and believing that her election was conducted in accordance with the Canons.
The Rev. Carlye J. Hughes was elected Bishop on May 19. Presiding Bishop Curry will officiate at her September 22 ordination and consecration service.

La Diócesis Episcopal de Newark recibió notificación del obispo presidente y primado Michael B. Curry y del registrador de la Convención General, el reverendo canónigo Michael Barlowe, que la obispa electa Carlye J. Hughes ha recibido la mayoría requerida de consentimiento en el proceso de consentimiento canónico detallado en el Canon III.11.3.
Al dar su consentimiento para su ordenación y consagración, los Comités Permanentes y los Obispos con jurisdicción dan fe de no conocer “ningún impedimento a causa del cual” la Obispa electa no pueda ser ordenada. La obispa electa Hughes debe ser ordenada a la oficina de Obispos y creyendo que su elección se realizó de conformidad con los cánones.
La reverenda Carlye J. Hughes fue elegida obispa el 19 de mayo. El obispo presidente Curry oficiará en su servicio de ordenación y consagración del 22 de septiembre.
