Raphaelle Sondak, who has served as director of human resources and a member of Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s staff since 2017, has announced her upcoming retirement. Sondak’s last day will be Feb. 3.

Sondak, who brought extensive experience in human resources to her role at the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society, provided organizational development strategies and managed and oversaw the talent acquisition process, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and in-house regulations and procedures, among other tasks.

During her time at the New York-based church center, Sondak updated the processes, procedures, and expectations of the human resources department, as well as helped the entire staff navigate through the pandemic, Curry noted.

“She has offered wise and valued counsel to me as presiding bishop, to the senior leadership team, staff members, Executive Council, and many others,” he said. “She was an invaluable resource and support for so many on our staff during the shutdown phase of the pandemic, which was difficult on everyone. We have been blessed and made better because of her service with us.”

Sondak said her time at The Episcopal Church Center has been rewarding.

“It has been a wonderful experience, and I have loved working with Episcopal Church staff in this role,” she said.
