Episcopal Church offers Lenten resources, meditations

Resources, meditations and study guides to provide a means to experience a reflective Lenten season are available from the Episcopal Church at http://www.episcopalchurch.org/lent

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, this year March 9. The 40-day season is a time of reflection, prayer, penance and meditation. The Lenten season concludes with the celebration of Easter on Sunday, April 24.

The Lenten studies and meditations include:

Adult Lenten Reflections: In conjunction with the “rebuild our Church in Haiti” initiative, reflection themes include returning to the Lord, renouncing evil, rebirth, living water, children of the light and being unbound or forgiven.

Young Adult Daily Lenten Meditations: Receive a daily Lenten meditation directly to individual email inboxes each morning.

2011 Lenten Meditations from Episcopal Relief & Development: Co-authored by a group of leaders from across the Episcopal Church, the devotional offers insights on the daily lectionary readings and how they might be applied to daily lives.

Eco-Justice Lenten Resources: From carbon fasts to spiritual reflections on creation care and sustainability, make Lent a time to focus on eco-justice.

Lenten Series: “Where there is Despair, Hope”: This Lenten series, created by Episcopal Community Services Foundation in the Diocese of Southern Ohio, “allows people to engage issues of poverty in spiritual and prayerful ways. By taking poverty out of the theoretical, abstract, and intellectual realm, and by emphasizing practical approaches, we hope the guide will inspire folk to discern the particular ministries in their own communities to which God may be calling them.”

The Lenten Resources will be available throughout Lent and Easter. Additional resources will be added throughout Lent.
