At the one year anniversary of the Haitian earthquake on January 12, Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori asks for prayers and expresses solidarity with the people of Haiti, Bishop Jean Zache Duracin and the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti as they rebuild.

The Diocese of Haiti is the largest in The Episcopal Church. The January 2010 earthquake leveled the churches and diocesan facilities, including Holy Trinity Cathedral in the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori: We continue to work with and pray for our brothers and sisters in Haiti. The Episcopal Church is urgently engaged in supporting the rebuilding of the cathedral complex, in addition to mission partnerships all over the nation. We hope for significant and measurable progress in the coming months in improving the lives of Haitians, helping to restore livelihoods, and stabilizing the institutions of communities and the nation.

The Episcopal Church welcomes all who worship Jesus Christ in 109 dioceses and three regional areas in 16 nations. The Episcopal Church is a member province of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
