In the next four months – September 1 to December 31 – the Episcopal Church will witness the consecrations of three bishops, the elections of three bishops, and the canonical consent process underway for two bishops-elect.

Consecrations

Three consecrations of a bishop are slated for September to December. Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori will officiate at the ordination service.  

September 28: Diocese of Western Michigan consecration – The Rev. Whayne M. Hougland, Jr., elected May 18 (pending completion of successful canonical consent process).

November 2: Diocese of New Jersey consecration – The Rev. Canon William ‘Chip’ H. Stokes, elected May 4.

November 23: Diocese of Puerto Rico consecration; election slated for September 7.

Elections

During September to December, three bishop elections are scheduled:

September 7: Diocese of Puerto Rico

October 19: Diocese of Fond du Lac

December 7: Diocese of New York Suffragan

Canonical Consent Process

The canonical consent process is currently underway for two bishops-elect. The deadlines are:

October 9: The Rev. Canon William ‘Chip’ H. Stokes, elected  as bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey May 4

October 16: The Rev. Whayne M. Hougland, Jr., elected bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan May 18

Consagraciones, elecciones y consensos de septiembre a diciembre de 2013 en la Iglesia Episcopal

En los próximos cuatro meses –  del 1 de septiembre al 31 de diciembre – la Iglesia Episcopal será testigo de las consagraciones de tres obispos, las elecciones de tres obispos y el proceso de consenso canónico en curso para dos obispos elegidos.

Consagraciones

Tres consagraciones de un obispo están programadas para septiembre hasta diciembre. La Obispa Presidente Katharine Jefferts Schori oficiará en el servicio de ordenación.

28 de septiembre: Consagración en la Diócesis del Oeste de Michigan  – El Rdo. Whayne M. Hougland, Jr., elegido el 18 de mayo (está pendiente el exitoso termino del proceso de consentimiento canónico).

2 de noviembre: Consagración en la Diócesis de Nueva Jersey – El Reverendo Canónigo William ‘Chip’ H. Stokes, elegido el 4 de mayo.

23 de noviembre: Consagración en la Diócesis de Puerto Rico, la elección está programada para el 7 de septiembre.

Elecciones

Durante septiembre hasta diciembre, hay tres elecciones episcopales programadas:

7 de septiembre: Diócesis de Puerto Rico

19 de octubre: Diócesis de Fond du Lac

7 de diciembre: Diócesis de Sufragáneo de Nueva York

Proceso de consentimiento canónico

El proceso de consentimiento canónico está actualmente en marcha para dos obispos elegidos. Las fechas límites son:

9 de octubre: El Rdo. Canónigo William ‘Chip’ H. Stokes, elegido obispo de la Diócesis Episcopal de Nueva Jersey el 4 de mayo

16 de octubre: The Rdo. Whayne M. Hougland, Jr., elegido obispo de la Diócesis Episcopal de Western Michigan el 18 de mayo.
