The Rt. Rev. Carl Wright, bishop suffragan for Armed Forces and Federal Ministries, has resigned for health reasons, effective July 1, 2022. Wright was ordained bishop on Feb. 11, 2017. The bishop suffragan is a Department of Defense-appointed Ecclesiastical Endorser with responsibility for Episcopal chaplains and congregations in the Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

Canonical consent to the resignation will be sought from the House of Bishops at the 80th General Convention in Baltimore. Presiding Bishop Michael Curry has taken steps to initiate the search and election process for the next bishop suffragan for Armed Forces and Federal Ministries.

El Reverendísimo Carl Wright, quien fuera obispo sufragáneo de las Fuerzas Armadas y los Ministerios Federales, presentó su renuncia al cargo con fecha de vigencia el 1 de julio de 2022, y citó razones de salud. Wright recibió las órdenes de obispo el día 11 de febrero de 2017. El cargo de obispo sufragáneo lo desempeña un endosante eclesiástico que es designado por el Departamento de Defensa y que tiene responsabilidad sobre los capellanes episcopales y las congregaciones en el Departamento de Defensa, el Departamento de Asuntos de Veteranos y la Oficina Federal de Prisiones.

Se solicitará que la Cámara de Obispos dé su consentimiento canónico y acepte la renuncia durante la 80ª Convención General de Baltimore. El Obispo Presidente Michael Curry ha tomado medidas para iniciar el proceso de búsqueda y elección del próximo obispo sufragáneo de las Fuerzas Armadas y los Ministerios Federales.
