New Sacred Ground Facilitators of Color Affinity Group
By Krista Bradley and Jo Ann Williams
For people of faith who also identify as People of Color, facilitating a Sacred Ground dialogue circle can present unique situations, feelings, opportunities, and challenges.
If you identify as a Person of Color and are leading an interracial Sacred Ground circle or an all-White Sacred Ground circle, you’re invited to join others who want a space in which to process and discuss their experiences as facilitators on their Sacred Ground journey.
The first virtual session is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 13, from 1-2:30 p.m. ET. Subsequent meetings will take place monthly. This peer affinity group is designed by and for Sacred Ground facilitators who identify as People of Color. To RSVP and register to participate, please click here.
We value the work of Sacred Ground and all persons who participate in the circles. In our experiences, we have found that facilitating interracial and all-White circles is rewarding and can be uniquely challenging for People of Color. We invite you to a safe and supportive place to share your experience. It is our hope that this group will help participants better navigate their circumstances facilitating Sacred Ground circles and in building Beloved Community.
Our future plans also include having speakers present topics pertinent to our experiences as People of Color facilitators. We welcome affinity group member ideas for other elements and resources to include in our peer support of one another.
Krista Bradley and Jo Ann Williams found they shared a common interest in joining a group for facilitators of Color. Since no such group existed, they were invited to form a group and look forward to meeting other interested POC facilitators through this new affinity group. Krista is a Sacred Ground facilitator with St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square, Episcopal Diocese of Washington. Jo Ann is a Sacred Ground facilitator with St. John’s Episcopal Church, Roseville, California, Episcopal Diocese of Northern California.
