The standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction have given the required majority of consents to the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts for its Nov. 15 election of the Very Rev. Miguelina Howell as bishop. Her consecration and ordination service is scheduled for April 25.
In giving consent to Howell’s ordination and consecration as bishop, standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction in The Episcopal Church attest to knowing of “no impediment on account of which” Howell ought not be ordained as bishop, and that her election was conducted in accordance with the canons. The consent process is detailed in Canon III.11.3.
Howell is the dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford, Connecticut. Read news coverage about her election.
