Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania receives consents for Bishop-elect Jenifer Chatfield

The standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction have given the required majority of consents to the Episcopal Diocese of Northwestern Pennsylvania for its Aug. 8 election of the Rev. Jenifer Chatfield as bishop. Her consecration and ordination service is scheduled for Dec. 12.

In giving consent to Chatfield’s ordination and consecration as bishop, standing committees and bishops exercising jurisdiction in The Episcopal Church attest to knowing of “no impediment on account of which” Chatfield ought not be ordained as bishop, and that her election was conducted in accordance with the canons. The consent process is detailed in Canon III.11.3.

Chatfield is the rector of St. Edmund’s Episcopal Church in San Marino, California. Read news coverage about her election.
