The Executive Council of The Episcopal Church is an elected body of lay people, deacons, priests, and bishops tasked with oversight of budget and of the execution of program and policies adopted by the General Convention. The council, which is accountable to the General Convention, functions as the board of directors of the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society, the New York not-for-profit corporation under which The Episcopal Church does business. The council usually meets three times per year and conducts business via committees in between meetings.
