Episcopal Church announces new measures for increased transparency in matters of bishop misconduct

In response to calls for greater clarity and accountability in The Episcopal Church’s disciplinary process for matters involving bishops, the church announced today a new three-part protocol aimed at increasing trust in and understanding of Title IV, the church’s canons that govern ecclesiastical discipline.

Bishops of The Episcopal Church will gather for the House of Bishops spring retreat Feb. 27 to March 4 at Camp Allen in Navasota, Texas. In addition to time for fellowship, sabbath, prayer, and reflection, the bishops will hold a business meeting that will include an update from a few bishops who are members of the constituting group for the Episcopal Coalition for Racial Equity and Justice.

Grant applications open for 2024 Episcopal creation care projects

Diocese of California notified of successful canonical consent process for next bishop

The Episcopal Diocese of California has received notification from the Presiding Bishop’s Office that Bishop-elect Austin K. Rios has received the required majority of consents in the canonical consent process detailed in Canon III.11.3. The consents received have been certified by the Rev. Canon Michael Barlowe, registrar of the General Convention.
