Eventos para jóvenes
In July of 2025, the Rev. Lester Mackenzie, chief of mission program for The Episcopal Church, announced a new experiment in supporting youth events around the church. In keeping with Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe’s vision to be “a strong, adaptive church that communicates and embodies the depth of Christian spirituality and works toward The Episcopal Church’s vision of God’s kingdom by supporting ministry on the ground in dioceses,” Mackenzie announced that throughout 2026 and 2027, Church Center staff will support dioceses, regions, and provinces in hosting smaller, more local gatherings where youth and their faith leadership can learn, connect, and try new ideas together.
This model gave rise to the following events:
Evento de Jóvenes Episcopales 2026: July 13-16 in Medellín, Colombia
Since the adoption of a General Convention resolution in 1982, The Episcopal Church has supported an international youth ministry event about every three years. Designed for young Episcopalians ages 16-23 from Latin America and the Caribbean, Evento de Jóvenes Episcopales, known popularly as EJE, celebrates faith, culture, and the gifts of young people in these regions.
Churchwide staff from multiple departments worked with youth and other leaders in the Episcopal Diocese of Colombia to plan EJE 2026. The theme was “Forgiveness, Leadership, and Discipleship.”
This collaborative event brought together nearly 100 youth from the region for worship, workshops, spiritual practices, and shared storytelling. Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe and President of the House of Deputies Julia Ayala Harris were featured speakers, participating in a Q&A discussion with attendees. Read coverage by Episcopal News Service.
Province III Youth Event: March 20-22, 2026, in Adamstown, Maryland
This gathering was for youth who completed grades 6-12, and the theme was “Faith on the Road.”
Province I Youth Climate Justice Event: June 29-July 2, 2026, in Winter Harbor, Maine
This was an event for middle and high school-age Episcopalians to share in the beauty of creation and to work with faith leaders to learn about how to protect and advocate for it.
Province VIII Youth Pilgrimage: July 28-31, 2026, in Honolulu, Hawaii
High school youth from across the western U.S. will gather in Honolulu for a transformative experience focused on Indigenous stories, immigration, worship, and fellowship.
Province V Youth Event: July 30-Aug. 1, 2026, in Kalamazoo, Michigan
This gathering is for all youth who have completed grades 6-12, and the theme is «We Will, With God’s Help.»
