The role of the Church in supporting families

The recent article in the New York Times, The Stories That Bind Us, concludes the following:

“If you want a happier family, create, refine and retell the story of your family’s positive moments and your ability to bounce back from the difficult ones. That act alone may increase the odds that your family will thrive for many generations to come.”

This thesis led me to wonder how we, as ministers and leaders in the Episcopal Church, help to support each of our families in developing a strong sense of family tradition and narrative.

What are your thoughts? Do you already have activities with this goal in your faith community?
