Grant Site Updates: Sites Coming to General Convention and the UTO Booth

June 11, 2018
United Thank Offering

Usually this space is reserved to tell you about one grant site, but since this is our Pre-Convention E-News, we wanted to remind you that, each day during Convention, we’ll have a lunchtime talk from one of our grant sites. For those of you not coming to Convention/Triennial, you can join us on Facebook, where we will be live streaming the 10-minute talk with our grant site leaders. The talks should start shortly after noon Eastern time. For those that come to the UTO Booth for the talk, you’ll get a special UTO giveaway – a Blue Box stress cube!

Wednesday, July 4: Q&A with UTO Staff – Since we’ll just be getting going, join us to check in about any events or UTO happenings that you might still have questions about. We won’t broadcast this one on Facebook, but if you aren’t at Convention and have UTO questions, just post your questions to Facebook and we will answer them live at 1 p.m. Eastern time.

Thursday, July 5: Navajoland – Come and hear how the recent grants to Navajoland (Blue Corn and the Water Project) are helping the Church grow and thrive.

Friday, July 6: Come and meet the bishop of the Church in Spain and hear about UTO grant sites there and the plans to build a permanent Anglican Center in Santiago to welcome non-Roman Catholic pilgrims.

Saturday, July 7: Missional Voices will be taking over our booth to talk about the group’s gatherings and how they are helping the Church gather to hold conversations and grow together. Our intern, Katelyn, who also works for Missional Voices this year, will be there to answer questions about her experience with the Julia Chester Emery Internship, as well.

Sunday, July 8: We’ll have two talks today – Missional Voices will continue in our booth because UTO will be over in the Presiding Bishop’s Booth with Cheii’s Web Development talking about our new Blue Box app.

Monday, July 9: Episcopal Friends of Navajoland will take over the UTO Booth to talk about why Companionship programs with Episcopal Church dioceses and UTO Companion Grants, like the Bee and Honey project, are important and how working together builds up both communities.

Tuesday, July 10: Bellwether Farms from the Diocese of Ohio will take over our booth to talk about this amazing farm, camp, and conference center. Representatives from this grant site will discuss how Bellwether Farms continues to grow out of the gifts of the community gathered together.

Wednesday, July 11: Episcopal Migration Ministries (EMM) will take over at lunch to talk about all of the amazing projects that EMM has done with UTO grants. This is a great chance to come and learn about the plight of refugees and ways you can help.
