Share Your Prayers by June 1!
Updates from the UTO Finance and Archives Committee
The world is full of things that need our time, attention, and prayers. We can’t help but think of Anne Lamott’s book “Help, Thanks, Wow.” She outlines three kinds of prayers: prayers asking God for help in our lives, communities, and world; prayers acknowledging the good in the midst of the world; and prayers that come from a place of wonder. Many of us might worry that our prayers are too simple, or too specific to share with others, but often, the beauty of prayer is that our words of help, thanks, wow, resonate with others.
The UTO Prayer Booklet was started in 2000 as a way to share words of prayers with others. The goal was to make sure that anyone who wanted to share a prayer with others could. The first booklet held just 39 prayers; our last had almost 150. The prayer booklet has become one of the most beloved items UTO offers, but we can’t do it without you. We need your help to collect prayers for the 2027-2030 edition of the prayer booklet.
Learn more about all the past prayer booklets and how to submit your own prayer here. All prayers submitted are printed, so this is a great way to encourage creativity, writing, and faith in young people, so please encourage (or help) the young people in your life to write prayers for the booklet. You can submit prayers in any language. This is a great Lenten activity to do as a parish, and perfect for Daughters of the King or Bible Study groups. We hope you’ll take time over the next few months and meet our June 1, 2026, deadline for the next prayer booklet. Thank you for sharing your prayer with us!
