Our 2012 delegation is getting ready to head to NYC to take part in this 4th annual venture. The delegation will be headed by two participants from last year: Rachel Robinson of the Diocese of Tennessee and Pauline Hassan from the Diocese of San Diego. The delegation will arrive in New York on Friday, February 24 and after two days of orientation take part in the first full week of the commission. They will visit the UN and some of its member state missions, gett to know the Episcopal Church Center and its staff, and reflect together on the importance of working for justice for women on a global scale and how that work relates to their faith.

This year’s delegation is a little larger than in year’s past as we have expanded the male representation from 2 members to 4. The inclusion of men in the delegation is uncommon within Ecumenical Women, the parent group with whom we attend the UNCSW. Our hope is to highlight the importance of men working for justice for women, especially as they work together to create “positive masculinities” or ways of being men in the world that  support the equality of women and the just treatment of all people.

Join us in welcoming this year’s delegates from dioceses across the Episcopal Church: Grace Baranowski (North Carolina), Christopher Esposito-Bernard (New York), Sarah Gardner (Massachusetts), Michelle Harvey (Oregon), Jordan Haynie (Fort worth), Samuel Liebl (Texas), Elizabeth Mansfield (Western North Carolina), Jane McCormack (Central Gulf Coast), Joshua Muchinoff (Dallas), Rebecca Ogus(Ohio, Eastern North Carolina, and Deleware), Abby Olcese (Kansas), and  Andrew Wilson (Florida). We are so excited to have these incredibly talented and passionate young adults taking a lead in this important work.
